The Services We Offer

Oh, No! Trouble has arrived.  Your kid is in trouble.

You just got the call or found out that your kid is in trouble.  They have failed a class, been skipping class, gotten a diagnosis, been drinking, doing drugs, lying, sneaking out, cutting, being sexual, etc.  You always thought it would be someone else's kid, but it's not, it's your kid too.

What to you do?  How do you handle it?

We all hope to avoid this situation and these moments.  No matter how prepared you think you are, when the discovery happens, it is hard.  Gain some perspective and create a plan for your next steps.

"Trouble has arrived" coaching sessions are $85 for an hour ($215 for 3 one hour sessions).

The journey to becoming a healthy, independent adult can be an interesting one for our kids.  And for us (ugh).  The journey that I have come to use, helps connect you  and your kid with the stuff that matters most.  We just don't have time to doink around with less than that these days.  There is too much at stake.

My commitment is, and will continue to be, to offer you services that wake you up and help you engage in the life you want.  For the first time, it's all together in a core curriculum.

Core Curriculum:   Play Huge!

If you are full of hope and want to feel more alive and on target in your life, Playing Huge will help get you there.

I love hope.  I think that intention is critical.  I hope that you hope to be a great parent.

But, like a high school (and then college) student who waits and waits for something to happen will help them decide what they want to do, hoping for an epiphany is not enough.  The discovery happens through action, your action, not luck or random events.  Active participation is the only way for our students to avoid landing in a life that is not satisfying.  And for you to become the parent you want to be.  The moment when the Real You gets fired up and engages is critical.

Hope is essential, but not sufficient.  Action is where hope becomes your life.  Play Huge classes and workshops create the foundation for you to be in action and to be the person you want to be (and get rid of the fricking nagging feeling that you are being lame).

You will learn the basics of how to build this strong foundation, and be provided insights into how to make the work sustainable (Launch Your Life secret #5 - Always Honor Sustainability!), because a spurt of action is not what you want.  You want a awesome relationships and a great life.

Next Class:  April 24, 2010  8:30 to 11:30 am in downtown Portland, OR

Core Curriculum:   Creating a Home Base

How are you feeling about that long term relationship with your kid?  How aware are you of the incredibly hard work they do each day to figure our who they are (and how to survive the teasing, taunting, loneliness, fear,  and uncertainty)?

For our kids, walking out the front door and into the world takes a lot of courage.  When they walk in the front door, they need to be able to relax, recharge their batteries, get hugs, and feel loved.

Creating a Home Base will help you create a safe place for your kids.  From how their brain develops to how to listen to making them feel loved, you will leave the classes and workshops ready to let the love you feel shine.

Next Class:  May 20 in downtown Portland, OR

Core Curriculum:   The GIft of Trouble

You find out that your kid has been lying.  They are failing a class, drinking, skipping classes, having sex...gulp.  It's the moment that you have been hoping to avoid for years, but the phone just rang and on the other end of the line?  Trouble.

Yikes.  It is so easy to freak out and begin to craft the punishment that is going to solve the problem...um, good luck.

Trouble is a gift.   It is a gift if you want to know what is really going on with your kid and the help that they need.  There are some skills, some support, and some perspective that will help you navigate (or, if you are ahead of the game, to prepare for and maybe avoid) the big Trouble.  You will then be able to teach, mentor, guide, your kid to discover an aliveness that drives them forward towards the life they want (and you really want for them)!

So, the Gift of Trouble classes and workshops will provide the skills, support, and perspective, that will help you listen and discover what is really going on and what to do with it!

And then you can be ready for the next time it happens too.

Next workshop is on June 4 - 5, 2010  in Portland, Oregon.

As Morgan was talking, I realized how important it is to be connected to myself and trust myself.  It seems so obvious, but I know now what will help me be successful.  It's as simple as learning to address my "Silly Self-talk" so I can be more positive about my self-image.

- Stacey, student, age 24

"Duh. I want my kid to be confident, but the number of things that I do that undermind that confidence is scary.  Thank you Morgan for shining light on those simple things that will help me help my kids."

- Steve, parent of kids age 8 and 4

"I spend a lot of time wanting things to be easy, but now realize thats pretty lame.  The easy way out is not going to get me what I want.  It was my decision to go to college, and I want to learn, so bring on those challenges and hard stuff! I want to learn."

- Phil, student, age 19

"What draws me to you is how you play with your kids."

Peter, parent of kids age 9 and 3
